These are works by students in the general adult course.
After caring for and seeing her mother off, one student created the calligraphy of “Namu Amida Butsu” (Homage to Amida Buddha) to mark the first anniversary of her passing.
We believe this is a wonderful expression of warm compassion.
This prayer was finished as a hanging scroll mounted on a half-sheet-sized paper.
It feels as if heartfelt prayers and gratitude dwell within these characters.
And within this work is the deep love she holds for her mother in the afterlife.
This is not just a piece of art.
It is her way of expressing the family bonds and love she experienced while caring for her mother.
In our daily lives, it can often be difficult to voice the feelings and words of thanks we hold in our hearts.
But this work has become a voice for those emotions and thoughts that are hard to put into words.
We feel proud to be able to share this through our blog.
Only a few days remain in this year.
Thanks to everyone’s support, we have come this far.
Next year, classes will resume on the first week: Thursday the 4th, Friday the 5th, and Saturday the 6th.
See you soon.
